Well-being - The state of being comfortable, healthy or happy
Relax - Make or become less tense or anxious
Resilience - The capacity to recover quickly from difficulties, toughness
Nutrition, exercise and stretching, reading, pampering and chill time. These are all things that lead to our Well-being. We are all different with what’s makes us individually happy and content. This blog is about some activities that are helping my well-being and resilience during this unprecedented time and I would like to share these with you.
Nutrition - food and nourishment necessary for health and growth
Nutrition is something I have learnt a lot about in the last year, while I have been on a mission to lose weight. So far 17kg gone and 4 kg to go to get to goal, so with this lockdown period, I have been very mindful of what I’m eating, as this is a time when food becomes comfort eating and then the kilos just pile on. So, to make sure this doesn’t happen I have been drinking lots of water (3-4 litres a day), having all meals on a small side plate so as not to overeat. Having low starch veggies, fresh fruit and small portions of meat for my main meal. Avoiding too many carbs and making protein a priority with meals. These are all things that I have learnt during my weight loss journey.
I have also been having these new OSM Everyday nutrition bars, they come in three flavours Blueberry & Blackcurrant, Salted Maple ancient grain & seed, Crunchy Peanut Butter. My favourite is Blueberry and Blackcurrant. I think they are perfect for those of us who are watching our weight as they are relatively low in calories, filling and very tasty.
These OSM Everyday Nutrition Bars are my go-to for a healthy yet very tasty food/snack option. I personally use them for lunch or a healthy snack, energy when exercising. I keep one in my handbag for when I’m out and about (when we aren’t in lockdown) if I’m hungry I know I have a healthy snack on hand. I really like these bars as they are high in fibre and protein, less sugar, based with Hemp and contain 7 vitamins and 3 minerals. Plus, they all taste great.
They are a nutritional no-brainer. Everyday nutrition contains a good source of protein and an excellent source of fibre, in line with New Zealand food standards code. Wholesome, plant-based and delicious. They are available from Fresh Choice Merivale Mall, Pak n Save Northlands, New world Bishopdale, New world Fendalton and Fresh Choice Fendalton.
This week we are all so giving one of each bar complimentary with any online hair or beauty product purchase.
Exercise and stretching
As a family BUBBLE, we have been getting out for some good walks. We are lucky to have reserves near us. Before we go, Harrison, my son has been taking us through some stretches. We just do a 10-minute stretch on various stretches. These are pictured below and may be of interest. They have helped me by feeling more flexible.
Here are some of the benefits of stretching
- Increases your flexibility...
- Increases your range of motion...
- Improves your performance in physical activities...
- Increases blood flow to your muscles...
- Improves your posture...
- Helps to heal and prevent back pain...
- Is great for stress relief...
- Can calm your mind...

Chill time for you!
I don’t know about you, but even though we have been in lockdown at home I’ve actually been very busy. At the end of the day, it's nice to chill in our outdoor spa or run a bath put on a face masque and hair treatment, light some scented candles, grab a glass of wine, and a good book and relax.
Pure Fiji Dilo Oil Anti-aging Booster
If I had to have just one beauty product this would be the one. Dilo oil antiaging booster is such a versatile skincare product. I use it morning and night.
A rich bounty of nutrients and unique essential fatty acids to help regenerate skin cells and smooth fine lines. Unlock the true potential of your skin with Dilo.
Pure Fiji Dilo and Coconut hydrating Masque
I love what this Dilo and coconut masque does for my skin. Such a lovely way to have a bit of luxury pampering while in lockdown. I have been using this twice a week. Apply to cleansed skin and leave on until the masque dries. Better still hop in the bath and relax.
Dilo & Coconut Hydrating Masque gives skin the ultimate hydrating boost while increasing collagen production, nourishing and repairing skin.
Schwarzkopf bc BONACURE Hyaluronic Moisture Kick BB Hydra Pearl
I use this each day and apply it to wet towel-dried hair before blow waving. Work it into the mid-lengths and ends, comb through then blow wave. Great for shine.
A moisturizing, defining Leave-In care that moisturizes dry hair for up to 48 hours thanks to the contained hyaluronic acid. Curly, brittle and dry hair is not only nourished but also defined and gains bounce. The result: The hair is moisturized, becomes supple, soft and shiny.
BM COOL BLONDES - Tone enhancing mask
This is a great product to keep blonde and silver-grey hair looking shiny and nourished. This treatment won’t leave your hair heavy or lank. I use this at least once a week. Sometimes leaving it in for 30 to 40 minutes. Great results every time.
This treatment repairs the internal structure of fragile, lightened and coloured hair, detangles porous hair, making it easy to comb and delivers cool pigments to maintain, refresh and enrich blonde and silver-grey hair.
Book review
This week’s motivational/self-help book I have just completed. Atomic habits are all about making small but continuous changes and making these into habits that you do without thinking as part of your daily routine. This is a great book with easy and proven ways to build good habits and break old ones. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It had some insightful personality tests that you can do as well.
If you don’t come out of this quarantine with...
A new skill, more knowledge, rested, feeling like we have achieved the things we set out to accomplish around our homes and enjoyed time with the people in our bubble…we have no one to blame but ourselves As we can’t blame the fact we lacked time…we just lacked discipline. Make the most of this time…it may only happen once in our lives.
I also came across this website that has some useful links and tips for anyone struggling at this time.
