Frequently Asked Questions
Microneedling is a minimally invasive skin-rejuvenation procedure involves the use of a device containing microneedles, which puncture the skin to create a controlled skin injury. This process stimulates our brain to send signals to our skin to naturally produce collagen and elastin, which helps repair the skin. This in turn helps close large open pores, and minimises the appearance of scars, stretch marks and wrinkles.
Yes, microneedling can be performed on the neck, as well as the chest, stomach, legs, arms and anywhere where stretch marks, scars, lines or wrinkles appear, to induce collagen into the system and minimise the appearance or aging or scar tissue.
The number of sessions you’ll need depends on the condition of the skin and the desired effect you’re looking for. Most people will need three to six sessions to see the result they want. It’s best to consult with your beauty therapist first, before committing to any number of procedures.
Pricing varies depending on the amount of work you need done and the extent of the area. Please see the above pricing section for more details. Feel free to book for a complimentary consultation with one of our qualified micro needling specialists.
Microneedling may give you a slight tingling sensation and your face may feel ‘fresh’ for a few hours afterwards, but the procedure shouldn’t hurt.
Yes, your skin may begin to peel after a micro needling treatment, as the old, damaged skin sheds, allowing for the production of healthy melanocytes to occur. This is the skin repairing itself, which is why the top layer of skin peels off. For best results we recommend a exfoliating facial with hydration mask one week after your micro needling service.
It’s recommended that you don’t wear makeup for a few hours following your micro needling procedure. That’s because, as the procedure creates tiny holes in the skin, makeup may block the pores, extending the time the skin takes to heal. Small particles of makeup may also enter the pores, causing slight infection. We can however apply a protecting tinted moisturizer for you before leaving the clinic.
Microneedling can improve the collagen production of the skin and minimise acne scars by as much as 50%, but is not in itself a permanent solution. However, it can give a radiant, brighter tone to the skin that lasts from four months up to half a year, at which time the procedure can be repeated.
