What are pedicures/manicures?

Pedicures and manicures are both cosmetic nail treatments, with pedicures styling toenails and manicures shaping fingernails. The process varies in technique, but generally includes polishing, gelling and painting the nails to create a stunning finish, as well as shaping the nail to get the desired nail curvature. Additional treatments include paraffin wax for moisturiser and nail polish, to bring out the colouring.

Benefits of  Nail Treatment

Stronger nails
Polish, paint and varnish can be used to strengthen naturally brittle nails and prevent chipping or cracking.
Treat infections
Manicures and pedicures have been known to reduce infection by clearing away dead skin cells and exfoliating the hands and feet.
Nail care
During nail treatment, blood circulation is improved and skin moisturised and treated, preventing grime and cracking.
Increase confidence
Great looking nails make us feel more confident and fashionable, without the need to hide our hands.

your Nails?

A nail treatment is what you need.
Really thrilled with the beauty treatments I had done at V for Hair & Beauty. Nothing like treating yourself to a well deserved pampering. The staff were friendly and I thought the service was great!

I started going here a few years ago and ever since I stepped foot in the door I don't want to go anywhere else. I have a beautician that I see every 4 weeks now and I wouldn't change her! She is very professional and she makes sure you are okay throughout the treatment and ensures you’re comfortable. Will happily keep going. Love it!!

I recently had 2 treatments at V for Beauty with Harinder and Ankita. They were both excellent and very professional. Highly recommend!

How it Works

Manicures and pedicures
First, a clear base is applied, followed by at least two layers of paint and a top coat, to finish.
Nail polish and buff
Nail buffing or trimming includes shaping your nails how you want, and polishing your nails up with a file.
Paraffin dip
Wax is heated in a bowl to a comfortable temperature, before the hand is dipped in and massaged. Afterwards, wax is peeled from the hand.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between a pedicure and a manicured nail?

Pedicures are for the feet, manicures for the hands. That’s the primary difference, as the treatment for both nail types are very similar.

Do I always need a buff and polish?

A buff and polish is a good idea if you’re wanting to reshape your nails or ensure that your manicure or pedicure stands out. They’re not essential, but can really bolster your nail look, and come as add ons following your mani/pedi. We also include polish removal, if you’re wanting to get rid of any lingering polish from a previous application.

 What is paraffin dip?

Paraffin dip or paraffin wax is a colourless solid wax which is used to soften the skin for salon and spa tratements, particularly around the hand, feet or cuticle area. This ensures that the mani/pedi procedure is more comfortable and can even decrease pains in joints, being a natural lubricant.

Can I do my own nails?

You can, but for accuracy and sheer pampering, we have some of the most qualified nail technicians in New Zealand, who can give you a perfect nail finish.

Is it better to use false nails?

While false nails will give you the appearance of a proper nail treatment from a distance, a proper nail treatment definately looks better up close. They’re also easier to use, since they’re natural nails, and can last longer if maintained properly.

What is nail buffering?

Not all nails have a perfectly symmetrical shape. Nails can also crack chip, causing one nail to look different to its neighbours. A buffering helps you achieve the perfect nail arch or squared look by shaping the nail to your desired look.

How many sessions do I need?

Only one, as all nails can be completed at once, although hands and feet are treated separately.

Can I wear nail polish following my mani/pedi?

You can apply more nail polish, as a top up or to change colour, although a proper nail polish removal session will take your nails back to square one, without any ‘bumps’ or previous nail colouring peaking through the new top coat.
