Personal developmentIs a lifelong process. It is a way for people to assess their skills and qualities, consider their aims in life and set goals in order to realise and maximise their potential. How you see yourself, your personal brand and how others see you.

What does personal development mean to you? I personally think it is important to always be open to learning new things, go to different places, meet new people, discover new interests and make time for YOU!This last week I had three new experiences that could be counted as personal development.

Monday started with a seminar called Mega Speaker

This seminar was all about helping business owners and entrepreneurs with all things business. I headed along with my friend and business colleague Phillippa Jacobs from Pinnacle Design (who also happens to look after our website). We both gained a lot from this day.The things I took away from this seminar are...

  • You are your brand, how you reflect yourself to others daily really matters. This I found very interesting as our appearance, health and beauty are a big part of this.
  • Social media is here to stay, be purposeful in what you share. This is something that young people really need to remember, what goes on the internet is there to stay and can be searched and found forever.
  • The big “5” important factors in life and business…. persistence, work ethic, commitment (keep your promises), loyalty and attitude.
  • Don’t be scared to tell someone the truth, people want to associate with people they can relate too, and yes people do judge a book by its cover (self-pride and grooming are important). The “F” bomb is not cool for people who want to succeed, stop “snap chat filters” and Champions don’t play Candy Crush! These were some of the messages that were put out there to us at mega speaker
This quote from JT Foxx I think is so true. When people are criticising you or talking about you in a bad way quite often it is “Tall Poppy Syndrome”.

I quite often say it’s a compliment to be criticised, as you must be worth talking about!

Thursday saw Phillipa and I off to another seminar this time called “Girl Director”

This was a very interesting seminar. All about Business, making a difference, inspiration, creativity, stories that touch move and inspire, social media, entrepreneurs empowering others to live a life they love.As a business, we have been bringing our content to the public and our clients via our social media, blogs, and videos. It is so important to be learning new things and ways that we can improve ourselves. This seminar had a big focus on creating great videos for our clients and business, so watch this space!

Fashion

A popular or the latest style of clothing, hair, decoration, or behaviour... "the latest Parisian fashions"Saturday, I headed out to my favourite fashion store “Magpie Style” for an afternoon of food and fashion.

Bridget and the team at Magpie style
Bridget and the team at Magpie style put together a collection of the latest spring fashion and trends. They featured designers Trelise Cooper, Paula Ryan, Camilla, and Shark.

The big thing this spring is florals and colour. Lilac is popular as well and there is still a hint of animal print. Pastels make a big come back as does fashion suits for women.

Below are some of the latest looks for Spring 2019 by Trelise Cooper.

The lovely Tina Duncan from White Tie took us through a cooking class creating a dinner party. It was so nice to do something different and I got so many tips and ideas from the cooking session, and oh yes, we got to sample the food and finished the session off with a Margarita.

The menu Tina took us through was...

Fried bread, sugar cured beef, black pepper & lemon labneh.
